Fara Butt

What started out as a small cottage industry in 1997, has now become a successful bed making businesses within West Yorkshire, employing 70 people. Fara joined the company when sales were at £1m. Her vision and strategy have helped the company to grow and become a major manufacturer of beds and mattresses in the region, aiming to achieve £10m turnover the company has gone from strength to strength.

In an industry dominated by men, Fara is committed to supporting the sector from the very top right to the local community. Flying the flag for the Yorkshire bed manufacturing  industry at the national level through the NBF work  and fundraising for The Furniture Makers’ Company;  active support of local causes including Yorkshire CCC, Leeds Rhinos, St George’s Crypt, Leeds Big Sleep to name a few, demonstrates Fara’s commitment to the industry and community at every level.

Fara is the first chairman of The Furniture Makers’ Company’s Yorkshire and Central and a Liveryman of the City of London, is a main board member of the National Bed Federation (NBF) and chairperson of the NBF marketing committee. Fara was shortlisted for the Northern Asian Powerlist 2020.

Fara worked as a secondary school teacher and Head of English for 25 years and has been involved in the business since 2006 and on a full time basis since 2016.
