Increase in Sales
Nick Butler, the CEO of Connect Yorkshire, hailed the result “It is startling to see that over 50% of the attendees said the turnover of their businesses had grown more than 15% in 2017 and 40% said their businesses had grown by more than 25%”.
Sophie Patton, Connect Yorkshires Operations Director, said. “This is not the first time that a survey of our members has shown such encouraging growth. It is a great tribute to the mentoring delivered by our Entrepreneurs in Residence who are over 80 of Yorkshire’s most successful business people who give their time free”.
Retention of Customers
A more stable picture was revealed by the response to questions about how difficult they felt it would be for them to retain their customers in 2018;
Richard Moran, the Chairman of Connect Yorkshire commented “These results show the crucial role that Connect Yorkshire plays in increasing jobs and wealth in Yorkshire, I urge anyone who wants to accelerate the growth of their business to become a member of Connect Yorkshire and receive the fantastic benefits that are available”.
The Connect Yorkshire Summit 2017
The Connect Yorkshire Annual Summit is held every year and is the only occasion the West and North Yorkshire members are brought together with the South Yorkshire members.
This year it was attended by over 150 members and Entrepreneurs in Residence. The principal speakers were Barry Dodd OBE and CBE and founder of GSM Group who opened the Summit and John Graham the joint founder of Go Outdoors who closed the event.
Between them a panel of Entrepreneurs in Residence, consisting of Richard Doyle, Chris Henry and Martin Needham answered questions put to them by Nick Butler and the audience, 3 members of Connect Yorkshire, Monster Group, Sound Leisure and Innergy, made presentations about their businesses. Juliette Healey of the Bank of England updated the attendees on the state of the economy and after the lunch break Jenny Flintoft ran an online Q&A session.
