Sir Anthony Ullmann

Anthony spent over 40 years in the textile industry manufacturing and distributing polyester yarn used in automotive interior trim by all the major car makers worldwide. In 1998 he, together with his business partner, founded Autofil Worldwide Limited when they acquired Europe’s most modern state of the art manufacturing facility in Nottingham. Over subsequent years he built the business to sales of £40m and a 35% share of the European automotive yarn market. In 2012 this culminated in the sale of Autofil to its longstanding Italian partner Sinterama – a worldwide automotive yarn manufacturer with plants in Europe, the Far East and South America. Since retiring from Autofil in 2017 and taking a number of NED positions, Anthony acquired the heritage speciality furniture brand Shackletons in 2018. This celebrated manufacturer, in its seventh decade, is best known for its TV adverts in the 1980s and continues to have retail stores in Batley. Its principal business is in the sale of contract furniture to retirement villages and care homes throughout the UK.
