Vincent joined the insurance broking business D E Ford in 1982, 6 years after it had been founded by his father. At the time it had fee income of £30,000 and a general commercial practice. Over the following few years Vincent changed the business so it specialised in providing insurance to religious orders, the educational sector and care homes and care providers. In addition Vincent created a new product namely a risk management service which has become an essential protection for those sectors faced, as they now are, with multiple abuse claims.
At the same time the commercial sector of the business grew in particular with those companies that appreciated that risk management is a vital part of their business. By 2017 the insurance cover exceeded £30m and the fee income was just shy of £6m. In early 2017 D E Ford was sold to PIB Group which is backed by the US based Carlyle Group the biggest private equity investor in the US.
