Employees from Yorkshire accountancy firm and Connect Yorkshire Partner Garbutt + Elliott are set to undertake a demanding 40 mile cycle challenge next month, to raise funds for their two locally chosen charity partners.
Participants have set a fundraising target of £6,000, to beat last year’s £5,580. All money raised will be donated to Harrogate based Our Angels and the Special Care Baby’s Unit at York Hospital. The regional charities were chosen to receive support as both rely heavily on support from individuals and businesses to provide crucial services to people in Yorkshire.
York Special Care Baby Unit provides relief, care and treatment of premature and sick new born babies as well as providing emotional support and financial assistance to parents and siblings and supporting the education and vocational training of staff on the unit. Clare Stones, Treasurer at York SCBU, said: “We are continually inspired by the incredible fundraising efforts from Garbutt + Elliott. They put on so many great fundraisers throughout the year and we are always excited to hear about their amazing efforts and achievements.”
Our Angels support parents and families through the heartbreak of baby loss at any stage, though they deal mainly with late miscarriage, stillbirth, and neonatal death. Chris Binnie says: “The fundraising team at Garbutt + Elliott have been long-term supporters of our cause and we’re very grateful for their continued dedication. Fundraising events such as these make a big difference to all the individuals and families that we support.”
40 employees are set to don the Lycra for the gruelling cycle from central Leeds, through Harrogate and on to York on May 19th. Nigel Shaw, Partner and Head of Corporate Social Responsibility at Garbutt + Elliott, said: “These are both very worthwhile causes that do so much valuable work in Yorkshire and we’re looking forward to hitting the road to show our support and raise valuable funds. Our staff are committed to raising money for good causes in our area and I’m proud that the size of the team keeps growing.”
Garbutt + Elliott offers business advice across a range of sectors including manufacturing, food, digital tech and creative, construction, leisure and charities.
