Leeds and York based accountancy firm and Connect Yorkshire Partner, Garbutt + Elliott, have announced another record-breaking year, which sees an annual turnover of £7.8m, representing an organic growth of 17% from 2016-2017.
The Firm has built on its excellent reputation as Yorkshire’s ‘go to accountants’ and continues to provide a hands-on approach that puts the clients’ needs at the core of everything it does. This has seen them secure 600 new business wins in this financial year.
Client wins for the 2017-2018 financial year were across a wide range of sectors including TEV (designers and manufactures of cooling, heating and refrigeration equipment), Lunchbox Theatrical Productions, Shepherd’s Purse cheese company and several exciting new regional micro-breweries. Another exceptional client win was Tate Fuel Oils.
The charities team enjoyed working on several new clients including Age UK Leeds whilst a significant win for Payroll was ilke Homes. Based in Knaresborough, ilke Homes is a well-known name in the UK housing industry and is leading the way in modern methods of construction. Meanwhile the Corporate Finance team acted as lead advisors on the sales of TEF Transport, First Response Group and the Management Buy Out of SCS Group, amongst many more.
Garbutt + Elliott has one of the largest independent corporate finance teams in Yorkshire, comprising 11 people led by partners Richard Feltham, Tony Farmer and Tariq Javaid. This year has seen the team reach new heights, acting as lead financial advisor on 44 completed projects and a further 30 currently in progress, across a variety of business sectors, including manufacturing and engineering, printing, brewing, food, transport, healthcare, support services and technology. The total value of deals completed during the year exceeds £100m.
Garbutt + Elliott’s continued growth is attributed to their refreshing approach to client service. Managing Partner, Russell Turner, says, “We invest time to understand our clients’ objectives and hand pick the best team that’s right beside them whenever they need help or advice. As a result, our clients trust us to do the very best for them and to exceed their expectations. We continuously strive to go the extra mile.”
Throughout the year Garbutt + Elliott has strengthened its team to meet the growing demand. Having recruited 20 new employees to its accounts and audit team and an additional 20 staff members across corporate finance, wealth management, tax, payroll, private clients and operations, the firm’s overall headcount has increased to 152.
Garbutt + Elliott prides itself on recruiting excellent people who share the same values. Chloe Owens, HR Manager, says, “As a team our integrity, technical expertise and friendly approach to client service is never compromised and this is reflected when we recruit new staff. We seek out people who are not only the best in their field but will embrace our culture and company values.”
The extensive growth in personnel has been the key factor in Garbutt + Elliott’s recent relocations for both the Leeds and York offices. This is an important milestone for Garbutt + Elliott and sets the foundation for the opportunities that lie ahead. The new offices have been designed to create a vibrant and collaborative environment for clients and staff, focusing on delivering excellent service.
“The results speak for themselves” says Russell Turner, “The breadth of our services, supported by our technical expertise and our engaging culture means we are consistently winning new opportunities. At Garbutt + Elliott we are friendly, hardworking, love what we do and get a real buzz from seeing businesses thrive.”
