Our Entrepreneurs in Residence (EIRs)
We have 59 – soon to be 60 – of Yorkshire’s most successful business men and women who are ourEntrepreneurs in Residence (EIRs). This last 7 days I have had the pleasure of meeting 3 such individuals 2 of whom are existing EIRs for the Connect Gazelles and 1 is a new EIR. The 2 existing EIRs also give time asDirectors of Connect Yorkshire, which is the company limited by guarantee which owns and runs the Connect Gazelles, and are, to all intents and purposes, my mentors.
Neil Ewin
Neil is Chair of the Board and I had a stimulating meeting with him on Tuesday morning when we worked on the detail of the new personal mentoring service which we are going to offer and let me have several useful documents which will form part of the new mentoring offer. In addition we are going to have a redesigned website and Neil is going to produce a site map for it. All this free of charge – it’s fantastic isn’t it? A great example of the value of mentoring is that it is Neil who has inspired us to add to our services which is going to be hugely valuable for our members.
Paul Rose
Yesterday I had a coffee with Paul Rose. Paul is also one of our Directors and an EIR and his day job is ceo ofRixonway Kitchens. Rixonway has just been sold for £35m and as a result Paul will be free to do more mentoring for our members and to generally help to deliver our other services to our members, which is great.
Rodney Tennant
And at the end of last week I went to meet Rodney Tennant of Tennants Auctioneers in Leyburn. North Yorkshire. Rodney has taken Tennants from a small local auctioneer to an leading international player with clients from as far afield as Australia, America, the Far East and Europe. Lesson Learnt
