National Leeds-based law firm and Connect Yorkshire partner, Clarion, has appointed Claire Burrows as partner and head of regulatory, strengthening the firm’s offering across regulatory, health and safety and compliance matters.

She joins from Brabners, where she helped to secure first time rankings for the firm’s Health and Safety offering in the Legal 500 for Yorkshire.

With more than a decade of experience in regulatory law, she advises businesses and organisations on a broad range of regulatory issues, across sectors including manufacturing, construction, housing, food and drink, and medical device regulation, a specialist area of law that positions Clarion to support businesses as the sector prepares for significant regulatory reform.

Burrows has also individually been recognised as a Next Generation Partner in the Legal 500 for Health and Safety and has worked on complex regulatory matters throughout her career.

Her work spans both contentious regulatory investigations and advisory compliance work, with extensive experience supporting clients through criminal investigations, advising organisations on regulatory compliance, corporate transactions and risk management.

Her appointment comes at a point of significant regulatory change, with many businesses adapting to reforms across medical device regulations, product safety legislation and advertising rules relating to high-fat, salt and sugar (HFSS) products.

Burrows said: “I’m really excited to be joining Clarion at such an important time for businesses facing a rapidly evolving regulatory landscape.

“Clarion’s reputation for delivering high-value and high-quality practical, commercial advice, and the opportunity to build and grow the regulatory offering was a major attraction.

“I’m looking forward to working with colleagues across the firm to support clients with the complex challenges they face.”

Roger Hutton, joint managing partner, added: “Claire has built an outstanding reputation in regulatory law and brings a wealth of experience across health and safety, product regulation and wider compliance matters.

“Claire’s expertise will be invaluable as we continue to expand our regulatory offering and help clients navigate an increasingly complex legal environment.”
