Sam Burgess

After graduating in modern languages, Sam’s first job was at Chilli (part of Advertising Principles in Leeds) where he was responsible for new business. In 2004 at the age of 29 Sam set up his own design and advertising agency, Morgan. Over the next 13 years Sam built up Morgan and in 2018 he sold out of the business. Sam also co-founded a film/animation business Superla.tv in 2012 which he sold out of in 2019. He then moved into telecoms services forming Loop Network Services. Loop sold phone systems and maintenance services to SMEs generally on long term contracts, making it an easier business to value/sell than his previous businesses.

When Covid hit in March 2020 and Loop couldn’t get into customer premises to install or maintain phone systems, Sam furloughed the 20 staff with a view to restarting in September 2020, however, during this period Sam was approached by a larger telecoms company and Sam consequently sold Loop to them in February 2021. Having created, managed and sold 3 companies in different sectors with different business models Sam has good general commercial experience and acumen.

Sam has also lectured on branding at Leeds business school and graduated the GS10ksb and NatWest entrepreneur accelerator programmes.  He is also a mentor for the prince’s trust and Nexus at Leeds business school.
