Rachel has a strong track record in both the corporate world and then as an entrepreneur, co-founding 2 business start-ups. First in manufacturing, and more latterly the search, selection and leadership consultancy GatenbySanderson. This went from start up to £multi-million national market leader it its specialist sector delivering over £4m EBIT within 8 years, before a successful exit.
Since then she has become one of Yorkshire’s most active Angel Investors, investing well into 7 figures in businesses across a range of sectors including; technology, education, medical devices, food manufacturing, human capital and social enterprises. She has also financed a number of housing developments, primarily focusing on affordable homes.
Rachel has also developed a portfolio of Non-Executive roles. She is Chairman or on the Board of a number of the businesses she has invested in, as well as for other ambitious, high growth private companies. Her experience also spans broader Non Executive roles as a charity Trustee and Chair, and she is also currently Deputy Chair of the Board at a University, where she also chairs the Resources and Remuneration Committees. Her current portfolio of roles covers organisations employing almost 2,000 people.
She is passionate about enterprise and job creation, as well as helping to grow businesses and support people and organisations to reach their full potential. In 2018 she was selected as one of Grant Thornton’s national 100 ‘Faces of a Vibrant Economy’.
