Warren qualified as an ACA and for the first few years after leaving the profession, he worked in the packaging industry and then at Great Northern Envelopes (GNE). GNE was bought by Adare PLC in which Warren operated as Commercial Director. In 2005 Warren led an MBO, at which time the sales were approx £14m. Over the next few years sales grew to £24m through the development of a new to the industry, ‘envelope outsource strategy’ coupled with manufacturing advances.
The business was severely hit by both the financial crash in 2008, with banks being major customers, and the continual growth of web communications reducing the demand for envelopes. Another MBO followed in 2011 again led by Warren by which time the turnover was £17m. Warren left the business in March 2018, since then he has been helping leaders of SMEs enhancing enterprise value by providing real £ benefits achieved by giving them greater clarity, visibility, commerciality and releasing time for the leader to focus on what they are brilliant at.
