It is with the deepest sadness and very heavy hearts that we inform you of the passing of Connect Yorkshire ‘s founder Nick Butler. Nick passed away at home on Friday the 12th of July.

Nick Butler had an illustrious career in the legal profession spanning four decades prior to forming Connect Yorkshire in 2001 . Nick had a huge passion for helping Yorkshire businesses grow and recruited many of Yorkshire’s leading entrepreneurs to help. He brought a unique blend of passion and experience to create a real sense of community for entrepreneurs to help each other grow their businesses.

After reading economics and law at Cambridge University, Nick started his career at Linklaters a leading global law firm and one of the main two legal practices in the City of London at that time. In the early 1970s he moved to Yorkshire joining Leeds-based Booth & Co where he specialised in corporate law before moving to DLA where he dealt with mergers and acquisitions, progressing to head of corporate law. He built an enviable reputation in his field.

Nick devoted his time to Connect Yorkshire free of charge for over 2 decades before stepping back in 2023 and built a fabulous team around him. Some of that team are still at Connect Yorkshire today. Nick will be hugely missed by our team and many of Yorkshire’s finest business owners and leaves a wonderful legacy in Connect Yorkshire which we intend to keep growing in his honour. Nick Inspired many people, his high energy and passion for businesses is still the heart beat of Connect Yorkshire today. We will all miss Nick more than any words can express and our thoughts are with his family at this very difficult time.
