Connect Yorkshire partner Clarion recruits partner to head up Sports Law team – has advised clients in the Premier League, EFL, and world champion boxers.

Geoff Cunningham brings more than ten years’ experience in sports law, having advised clients across football, boxing and broader sporting sectors throughout his career.

With a foundation built in Yorkshire, he has developed expertise working with national and international practices and client bases.

Most recently, Cunningham held the position of head of legal (regulatory) at the English Football League (EFL), where he advised on complex regulation changes, regulatory charges against member clubs and other litigation matters.

He then spent over two years as chief legal officer at boxing promoter Boxxer, where he played an instrumental role during a pivotal growth period.

Throughout his career, Cunningham has advised prominent clients in the Premier League, EFL, world champion boxers and many other professional athletes across a wide range of sporting disciplines.

Geoff Cunningham said: “I am thrilled to be joining the Clarion team and to be leading the firm’s sports law team at such an exciting time.
